The town of Usk in Monmouthshire is steeped in history, from the ruins of a Norman castle to the seventeenth century buildings that adorn the cobbled streets. It has always proved to be a very popular destination for one of our day trips.
On Sunday 28th June we will again be visiting the open gardens in Usk. Around 12 gardens open from 10am-5pm. Usk is full of colour and a wonderful backdrop to the gardens, ranging from small cottages packed with unusual plants to large gardens with brimming herbaceous borders. There is a romantic garden around the ramparts of Usk Castle. There is also a Gardeners' Market with a wide selection of interesting plants. There are lots of places to eat and drink including places to picnic by the River Usk, or in one of the large gardens. There are various cafes, pubs and restaurants available for refreshments, plus volunteer groups offering teas and cakes.
The cost of this day out is £30, to include the £10 entry fee to the gardens, the coach fare and driver’s gratuity, which is the same as last year. The coach will leave Locking Road Car Park at 09.00am and return from Usk at 4pm (we aim to be back in Weston by 5.30pm) We will pick up at Farm Foods, ESSO Garage and The Food Warehouse X1 Bus Stop.

- Send your cheque for £30 per person made payable to Weston u3a Social Account, together with a stamped addressed envelope to Usk Garden Trip, 3, Wigmore Gardens, Worle, Weston-super-Mare, BS22 9AQ or
- Pay with cash or cheque at a Coffee Morning - bring a stamped addressed envelope with you.

NOTE: if paying by bank transfer please don’t make any payment until your place has been confirmed by the organiser. If the trip is oversubscribed, making refunds of BACS payments is a bit complicated and time consuming.
You will be informed once the trip is viable, after which no refund can be made unless a replacement for you is found.
