Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, and pay more Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in one tax year, our u3a can reclaim tax equal to 1/4 of your subscription at no cost to you. 

Gift Aid really helps to keep your subscription as low as possible. 

For joint membership, where only one of you is eligible for Gift Aid, please put that person's name first.
Only complete the section on Gift Aid if you are happy for the data to be transferred to HMRC electronically.

Cost

The subscription for Individual members for a year is £12, two members at the same address can join as Joint members at a reduced rate of £10 each a year. Our membership year starts on April 1st, however if you join after the 1st January your first year's membership will run until the 31st March in the following year.
If you are already a member of another u3a you can join our u3a as an Associate member at a reduced rate of £8 per year.

For new joiners, from October 1st until 31st December the subscription rates are reduced by half.

If joining by post and you would like to receive a membership card and copy of the latest newsletter by post, please pay an extra £1 in addition to your membership subscription.

Option 1 - Join online

The Weston-super-Mare u3a payment page is hosted by Paypal, but this does not make any difference to you as a member - you can pay using a debit or credit card by choosing to “Check out as a Guest”. You will find this option at the bottom of the payment page.

PayPal will not open a PayPal account for you as long as you uncheck the box on the 'Pay with debit or credit card' screen. (see image)

However, they will retain the information you provide in accordance with their Privacy Policy which enables them to monitor the use of PayPal for risk management purposes.

After joining you will receive an email from the Weston-super-Mare u3a PayPal account confirming that your payment has been processed successfully.

You will also receive an email from Weston-super-Mare u3a with your membership card attached. You may be asked to show it at meetings – you can either show the card on your smartphone or print a copy. If this email does not come within a few minutes, let us know.

The email will also include a link to the latest edition of our Newsletter. If you would prefer a paper copy of the Newsletter they can be collected from the Membership Desk at a Coffee Morning (our weekly coffee mornings are held at the Friends Meeting House in the High Street, Weston-Super-Mare.  (corner of Oxford Street) on Tuesday mornings from 10.00 am to 11.15 am). 

Option 2 - Join by post and pay by cheque or bank transfer

Download, print and complete the application form, then post it with your cheque and a stamped addressed envelope, to the Membership Secretary, whose address is on the form.

If joining by post and you would like to receive a membership card and copy of the latest newsletter by post, please pay an extra £1 in addition to your membership subscription.

If you wish to Gift Aid your subscription you must also download, print and complete the Charity Gift Aid Declaration and return it with your application.

If you are already a member of a different u3a and wish to apply for Associate Membership you should download this form.

Option 3 - Join in Person at a Coffee Morning

You can join in person at our weekly coffee morning. These coffee mornings are held every Tuesday morning from 10.00 am to 11.15 am in the the We Are Super Event Space in the Sovereign Centre, the entrance is opposite the car park paying machines at the foot of the stairs near the old Wilko store.
