The group is continuing to read extracts from a book by Jonny Thomson, Mini Philosophy: A small book of big ideas, (2021, Wildfire). These are short ‘chapters’ arranged in sections with headings including Ethics, The Arts, Knowledge and the Mind, Society and Relationships, Literature and Language. These readingsafford jumping-off points for discussion.
Also, we find time to learn about and practice the skill of philosophical argument, all in the spirit of lines in Thomson’s Introduction: “Philosophy should be relatable, it should be practical, and it should be accessible. But most of all it ought to be fun.”
If any of this interests you please use the contact form by clicking on the Group Email link above. We have to limit our numbers at present and there is a waiting list.
The group is now enjoying a summer break and re-starting on 25th September.
