CHAIR’S REPORT
I think it’s fair to say that our Weston u3a had a rather turbulent start to 2026 when it became apparent that we would have to leave the Friends Meeting House and find another venue in which to hold our weekly Coffee MorningsEasier said than done - as apparently affordable venues for 49 weeks of the year were seemingly impossible. However, our hardworking Committee managed it and our members seem to be coping well with the new, spacious premises in the Sovereign Centre. Thanks must go to the Coffee Morning Team, Committee and members who did really well to ensure our move from the Friends Meeting House to The Event Space rooms in the Sovereign Centre went efficiently and smoothly.
Unfortunately, due to personal reasons our Vice Chair, Paul March and Laura Woodard have stepped down from our Committee and I would personally like to thank them both for their support. Pauline McAllister, (our Treasurer) has agreed to take on the role of Vice Chair until our AGM.
There are various day trips planned for this year plus a holiday to Chester in June and a Festive Sparkle weekend in early December. Further details appear in this Newsletter and are also advertised in Simon’s monthly Bulletin and on our board at our weekly Tuesday coffee mornings.
A date for your diary - the Weston u3a AGM will take place on Friday 23rd October at The Blakehay Theatre starting at 2.30 pm. The venue is suitable for people with mobility issues.
All that remains is for me to wish you all the very best for the remainder of this year.
