On a wet and windy November weekend we set off for Thursford, Norfolk to see its spectacular Christmas show. I did wonder why I had signed up for such a long road trip just to go and see a show but my concerns were needless. The coach was comfortable, the company convivial and the show was absolutely stunning.
After staying in a Norwich Hotel overnight, on Day 2 we arrived at the venue in the village of Thursford and dived into the restaurant for a mulled wine. The site incorporates the world’s largest carousel - which dated from Victorian times. I had no idea such giants had existed - the rollers alone were taller than me. A quick walk around the outdoor displays followed before we entered the cavernous venue with its super long stage and settled down to watch a highly professional Christmas-themed show of singing, dancing, music and acrobatics. It didn’t matter where you sat because the cast of 130 artists used all the aisles and the full length of the stage to make sure we all felt included.

The break on our journey home was at Windsor. Fortunately, the sun came out and we had time for lunch and shopping as well as seeing the preparations being made for the German President’s state visit. I was so glad I went, so thank you again, Jenny for organising the trip.
