One of Europe’s leading and largest open-air museums, it stands in the grounds of St Fagan’s Castle, a late 16 th century house and gardens, which you may visit. There are over fifty historic buildings from all over Wales, which have been rebuilt at the museum, including a Victorian school, a medieval church with wall paintings, a workmen’s institute and a post-war prefab, but the full range is very diverse. A terrace of houses offers you a glimpse of homes furnished from different ages.
You can see craftsmen at work and buy some of their products. There are several places to eat, including a cafe, an old tea room and a pub from 1915. There are also some more normal museum galleries. The site is very extensive and new buildings are always being added.
The cost for this trip is £16, which includes the coach and driver’s tip. Entry to the museum is free. We leave Locking Rd Car park at 9 am, calling at Farm Foods, Esso (BP) Garage and the old Homebase stop. We aim to leave the museum at 4 pm.
